Instead of confusing people with units and limits etc , why not just say no Alcohol when in charge of a motor vechicle that to include anything with a engine. Lets face it if you worked on a  prodution line or incharge of machinery at work and you turned up smelling of booze you would be sent home. Also you probably know someone like this has half a pint and there drunk , where as theres people who can drink 10 pints and not be affected in other words everyone has there own limits. The safest limit is 0 Alcohol !

PAul.

Why the contribution is important

Because to many people die each years as a result of drink driving and costs the country allot of money.

I agree since everyone is different in the way alcohol affects them, despite the legal unit count. No alcohol for designated drivers etc would easiliy remove this problem

I agree in principle, but different people have different tolerances to alcohol and different rates of breaking it down in the body, so you can never be sure how long after consumption your alcohol level had dropped to nothing.

It would therefore be sensible to allow a very minimal level to account for this, and also for cooked meals which might have a very small amount of alcohol in them, and some medicines.

But don't set up a quango to work on it, please!

Totally agree. If you are going to drive you should not be drinking any alcohol. If you want to drink alcohol GET A TAXI!

I disagree. There are some pubs that WILL close if this happens. Yes, drink driving is wrong, but most people can manage a pint of normal (less than 5%)beer and are ok to drive. And whats wrong with having a glass of wine with a meal.
